They need the design engineer to work on the mechanical structures of my client’s generator designs, following the product from first concept phase to fully implemented in production.

The successful design engineer with report to Development Manager, in the client’s UK R&D Centre, and they will develop the overall structural architecture for world-leading wind-turbine generators and their integration. They will conduct CAD design of generator structural parts, including specifications (PS), as well as FEM analyses of generator structure and sub-parts, including responsible for documentation to third party approvals. The design engineer’s role will also be to conduct reliability and robustness test of their designs through FEM analysis and HALT test programs, as well as write test plans, including test methods and follow up on test data.

My client is looking for experience in the following:

Implementation of your designs in Supply Chain through well described processes and controls
Experience in Mechanical engineering disciplines
Materials; constructions steel and cast iron
Fine element analysis, ANSYS or similar
3D CAD design, Autodesk inventor or similar
Electromagnetics
Thermal Design

They are also looking for knowledge of applicable standards and experience of risk assessments of heavy and high loaded parts.
